Gamesley Community Centre was originally built around 1970 as a community hub and bar, funded for by the local community. The one-storey centre was later extended and modified to the existing layout, accommodating a sports hall, coffee bar (previously social bar), office space and rooms for community groups.
Torside building consultants were instructed to undertake a full pre-acquisition building survey to ascertain present and anticipated issues within the construction fabric and structure and a PPM (planned preventative maintenance) schedule to provide budgeting information for the building’s future maintenance requirements. The client intended to acquire the community hub for a management change of hands.
Using our expertise and surveying equipment such as drones, damp-meters and thermal imaging camera, our building surveyors attended site to undertake the inspection.

The property site is on around 30,000m² of land in Gamesley, on the outskirts of Glossop, Derbyshire. Our building surveyors attended on a dry, warm day and took over 800 photographs and documented their findings to aid in producing a written report.
Based on the information gathered, our client was able to rely on the information to negotiate the lease agreement for managing the community hub. They were also able to accurately plan for immediate and future repairs & maintenance works accordingly.
